Joseph K. Jachinowski, Chief Executive Officer
Joe comes to Mevion Medical Systems with a distinguished
28-year track record of successfully developing products and building companies
in the field of radiation therapy for cancer. He was most recently Executive
Vice President of Elekta AB, a leading supplier of radiation therapy equipment,
and CEO of Elekta Holdings with overall responsibility for all of Elekta’s
North American operations. Prior to Elekta, he co-founded IMPAC Medical
Systems, and served as its President and CEO through its initial public
offering and culminating in its sale to Elekta in 2005. Joe began his career at
Varian Medical Systems, where he was responsible for leading the team that
developed their innovative linear accelerator products in the 1980s.
Donald B. Melson, Chief Financial Officer
Don joined Mevion from Analogic Corporation, a leading manufacturer of healthcare and security imaging systems, where he was Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to Analogic, Don was Vice President and Corporate Controller at Millipore Corporation, a life science and biotech tools manufacturer. Don held a number of senior finance roles at both Millipore and W.R. Grace & Co. Don has an A.B. degree from Brown University, an M.B.A. from Columbia University and is a certified public accountant.
Michael Cogswell, RTT, BS, MBA., Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Mike comes to Mevion Medical Systems with over 27 years of experience in radiation oncology, and a track record of successfully leading sales organizations. He most recently served on Elekta's global sales council and was Senior Vice President of Sales for Elekta North America. Prior to Elekta, Mike was instrumental in the growth of IMPAC Medical Systems, serving as Director of Sales and in multiple management roles through its initial public offering and sale to Elekta in 2005. Mike began his career as a Clinical Radiation Therapist and developed several cancer centers in various regions of the country.
Stanley “Skip” Rosenthal, Ph.D., Vice President Clinical Systems
Skip joined Mevion Medical Systems from The Northeast Proton
Therapy Center at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was Senior Medical
Physicist. He has worked there and at the Harvard Cyclotron Laboratory as a
medical physicist in radiation oncology and proton therapy for sixteen years.
Earl Cleveland, Vice President of Advanced Development
Earl came to Mevion Medical Systems from the IBA Proton Therapy Division where he was Chief Engineer on the Northeast Proton Therapy Center installation. He then continued as the Proton Therapy Program Manager, participating in the development of proton therapy centers worldwide. Prior to working for IBA, Earl was a Project Engineer at SAIC Engineering and Consulting Company and was the principal Mechanical Engineer/Manager and beam delivery system designer for the Loma Linda proton therapy accelerator technology development and transfer. Earl has more than 23 years experience in the development of proton therapy technology and projects.
Mark Jones, Vice President of Engineering
Bringing multidiscipline engineering expertise, Mark joined Mevion in 2006 serving as Lead Mechanical Engineer of the magnet and RF accelerator systems and subsequently as Mechanical Engineering Director since 2007. With more than 27 years of experience, Mark has led the development of numerous successful medical equipment products. Mark's innovative designs have earned him 5 patents while developing MRI and CT imaging products at Analogic Corporation, cardiac imaging products at XRE Corporation, and most recently genetic research and molecular diagnostics products at Affymetrix. Mark holds a B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree from Norwich University as well as a M.S. Engineering Management degree from the Gordon Institute of Tufts University.
Bill Alvord, Ph.D., Vice President Operations
Bill joined Mevion Medical Systems in March 2009 from Siemens Healthcare Molecular Imaging, where he was Director of Cyclotron R&D and oversaw Sustaining Engineering, Research, Development and Applications training for the Eclipse/Explora product lines. Prior to that Bill worked at Varian Microwave Tube division in the Electron Gun Design group. He holds four patents in the field of isotope target and accelerator shielding. Bill received his B.A. in Physics from the University of California at Berkeley and his M.S. and PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
George L. Rugg, Vice President of Global Service
George has been working in the oncology field for over thirty years and has held various positions of increasing responsibility with the world's leading linear accelerator manufacturers. His experiences in this field ranges from Senior Accelerator Test Engineer and Department Manager to Senior Vice President and Business Unit Manager. Prior to joining Mevion, George was a Senior Vice President for Elekta. George received his B.S. in Business Administration from Menlo College.
Thomas Faris, Esq, Vice President of Regulatory and Quality Assurance
Thom, a well-seasoned executive in the disciplines of regulatory affairs, quality assurance, health information privacy and security, and operational management, joined Mevion Medical Systems from Elekta in 2010. Thom held multiple VP of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance positions, most recently as Global Vice President of Quality Systems. Prior to Elekta, Thom headed the regulatory and quality functions of IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. and Image Enhancement Systems, Inc. He has a BS degree in Justice Studies from Arizona State University, an MS in Quality Assurance from California State University Dominguez Hills, and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University School of Law.
