Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job duties and responsibilities:
  • Design and development of components, structural weldments and drive systems including:
  • Analysis of performance requirements and design specifications
  • Delineation of system and component designs including incorporation of COTS parts
  • Incorporation of interfacing subsystem components
  • Follow construction and testing of prototypes 
  • Design verification through analysis, test or design review
  • Design documentation and performance of formal design reviews
  • Support manufacturing, installation, and service planning
Minimum educational, training, and experience qualifications:
  • BS degree plus 5 to 10 years experience
  • Demonstrated competence in stress/strain analysis using FEA techniques
  • 5 years minimum experience applying SolidWorks
  • Working from 3D models, develop manufacturing specifications and drawings
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y 14.5M
  • Selection of standard materials and components
  • Ability to create and interpret mechanical design drawings.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and civil engineering drawings
  • Self-starter who is able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to provide mentoring to engineer of lesser experience
Desired Competencies include:
  • Design and analysis of large moving structures
  • Experience in designing of medical devices
  • Familiarity with radiation damage issues
  • Experience with site planning and large device installation
  • Professional Engineering License preferred
