Assistant Physicist
Essential Functions include:
- Operate the MEVION S250i Superconducting Synchrocyclotron
- Tune system parameters to optimize machine performance
- Participate in the development and optimization of Mevion’s existing and future technologies
- Assist in the design of the control system including algorithm development
- Collect and analyze beam data
- Develop improved beam diagnostic, analysis and measurement tools
- Contribute to continuing engineering projects in the Advanced Development group in close coordination with project heads, including system modeling, simulations, motion and instrument control, and experiments
- Create standard operating procedures, work instructions, and verification and validation protocols
- Must be fluent in Mandarin.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
- Good communication skills
- The ability to work effectively in a small team environment
- This position involves occasional exposure to high magnetic fields and routine exposure to magnetic fields above 5 gauss. Individuals with pacemakers, automatic defibrillators, or similar implants are physically disqualified from this position. Individuals with other implanted metallic materials must be considered on a case by case basis, per medical advice from the candidate’s physician and company policy
